Om Nama Shivaya Mantra: Simple, Soothing, and Powerful Ancient Hindu Shiva Mantra
Can mantras create miracles?
They can, but probably not in
the way that you're thinking
right now. Hello, and welcome to
the Mantra meditation podcast.
I'm your host Preeti, and I'm
really happy you're here joining
me on a brand new episode and a
brand new discussion. Today, I
wanted to talk to you about the
idea of miracles I wanna talk to
you about the misconception
around it, and I wanna talk to
you about what really makes a
miracle, what a miracle really
is. Now, of course, what I say
comes from my own life
experiences. But I really think
that this new perception about
miracles might be interesting to
you as well. If you notice
miracles happen when we're not
thinking about that particular
subject, they always happen
unexpectedly. Miracles are
things that we could not have
imagined that we could not have
created or that we could not
have controlled.
A miracle is always something
that's happened in our favor
that we could not have otherwise
controlled. For instance,
somebody who's really, really
ill makes a sudden recovery. Or
somebody who's been failing
interview after interview after
interview lands a dream job.
It's a miracle. But that gives
us a sense that it is entirely
up to some stroke of luck or
fate or the favor of some divine
forces and divine beings that is
creating this miracle. that it
is entirely up to them and not
up to us. that if a miracle
happens, only those divine
forces, only luck or fortune, or
other uncontrollable elements,
can take credit. Now that is not
entirely true? Because to any
miracle happening, to any to
anything getting done.
There are 2 elements. The first
element is effort. And we know
this element really well because
we practice it. We embrace it
every single day we put in
effort. We make efforts. We try.
We set goals. We take steps.
We fail. We try again. and we
keep putting in efforts to get
closer to the destination that
we've marked for ourselves. We
keep putting in effort to get
successful. And yet, sometimes,
we feel stuck. We feel that
nothing's moving even though we
are. Nothing's changing even
though we're trying so hard. So
the first element by itself
doesn't work as we realize
sometimes.
Then the second element is
surrender. Because while we know
that we can control our efforts,
we can improve, we can work on
ourselves, We also know that
when we're working towards a
goal, there are some things that
are beyond our control. Right?
That's the other side of the
coin. There are things that we
simply cannot change, influence,
manipulate, or control. And we
all know we all have learned it
the hard way that when we try to
forcibly control or influence or
change those things that are
beyond our control, it leads to
frustration. It leads to defeat.
and that is not a good place to
be. So for everything that gets
done in the universe, For
everything that you do in the
universe, there are these 2
elements.
It's a part of everything you
do. There is effort and there is
surrender. There is effort.
There is surrender. There is
effort. There is surrender. Now
sometimes when you're in the
cycle of effort and surrender,
effort and surrender. And when
you're truly only focused on the
effort side of it, truly only
focused on the things that you
can control, suddenly a miracle
happens.
Suddenly, after all that effort,
something clicks, something
changes. What is that? Suddenly,
your luck or your fortune or the
gods that you pray to and ask
to. respond respond
overwhelmingly to your prayers
and to your requests. But what's
really happening is they are
responding overwhelmingly to
your effort. The universe and
all its forces are watching you,
are watching your efforts, are
watching your desires, are
watching you try to change for
the better. and not give up. And
when the time is just right, The
forces of the universe rise
together lean in your favor and
respond overwhelmingly to your
efforts. And suddenly, something
that you've really, really
wanted in your life comes
walking through the door.
That is a miracle. and there is
no way for a miracle to be
created without effort or
without surrender. So the next
time you catch yourself, blaming
your luck or feeling sorry for
yourself or feeling stuck where
you are, remember to not let it
stop you from putting in the
effort. Remember to keep
focusing on the things that you
can control. Keep focusing on
the time that you have, the
things that you have. rather
than the time and the things
that you don't have. Appreciate
everything you are given and try
to work in the best possible
manner with all of it. And soon
enough, when the time is
perfectly right, you will turn
around and witness a miracle.
That day will come when you will
be at the destination that seems
so far right now. It's not easy
to keep working hard and see no
results. It's not easy to stay
on that path. But there are
things that can help you stay on
that path, and mantras are one
of them. So today, speaking of
effort and surrender and
miracles, I bring to you the om
Nama Shivaya Mantra. This is the
Punjakshiri Mantra or the Mantra
of 5 syllables, each syllable in
this mantra, corresponds to a
certain element in the universe.
to a certain energy in our body
and to a certain quality of our
mind. The only nameashivaya
Mantra is the perfect mantra for
gathering courage for
strengthening your focus and
staying on your path.
Here is what the mantra sounds
like. Oh, now my height. she've
all yet. Oh, now my she vols
yet. I'm ahead. She've all yet
wonderful. So the next time you
find yourself feeling a little
down, feeling a little
discouraged, and questioning
whether your path, your pursuit,
your purpose is worth it.
Remember what miracles are made
of.
and remember the om Nama Shivaya
Mantra. Several of our listeners
have made this mantra a part of
their self care rituals, a part
of their everyday spiritual
practice. Here are 2 of those
people who shared their
experience. The first comment is
from Wendy Pardon. Who wrote,
thank you so much for this
beautiful mantra. It is so
simple to chant while being
powerful yet soothing. Amazing
just started this into my day
and evening. Wonderful, Wendy.
Thank you so much for sharing
this for sharing your
experience, and I'm so happy
that this mantra has found a
place in your daily life.
Another miraculous comment is
from Prachi Kamath, who says, my
newborn baby stops crying when I
played this track as I started
listening to this track since I
was 5 months pregnant. The
vibration and sound quality my
baby can recognize. Thank you so
much, Praachi, and I hope your
baby is happy and healthy and
continues to be blessed. Thank
you, Praachi, Thank you dear
listeners for sharing such
powerful, such uplifting
experiences for the world to
listen. And if you haven't tried
chanting the om Namashibai
Mantra or meditating with the
mantra, I suggest you give it a
try. It is one of the best
mantras to introduce you to the
world of mantras in meditation.
That's it.
That's all I wanted to share on
